If you own a Tesla and you live in a region where the climate can be rather harsh on your car, then you’ll probably want the EV maker’s new All-Weather Protection Kit that is available at no cost.
Thanks to Electrek, we get to see what this kit is all about and yeah, it’s pretty straight forward. Tesla is basically offering its customers official mud flaps, with instructions for self-installation too. The mud flap itself is quite small, presumably to not affect aerodynamics.
The Palo Alto-based company has already begun sending emails to owners, letting them know that they can pick the kit up at service centers.

Since these mud flaps are so small, they probably won’t do as well with splash protection, from a pedestrian perspective. But the likes of stones, mud, dirt and various pieces of metal should be redirected away from the frame of your car.
The following is an email received by a Model 3 owner living in Quebec, Canada:
There have been cases in which Tesla Model 3 owners facing tough winters where salt and sand had been used on the road, have complained about paint degradation behind the wheels, which in turn forced them to buy various aftermarket products.
That will of course no longer be the case since the front mud flaps and installation hardware is provided for free – on both new cars as well as for existing owners. As for a full list of available markets for the All-Weather Protection Kit, Tesla has yet to provide one.
