Following Carlos Ghosn’s James Bond-style escape from Japan, nothing seems that far-fetched anymore when it comes to the ‘international man of mystery’ the former auto executive turned out to be.

Still, the Brazilian-French-Lebanese who once ruled with an iron fist over the Renault-Nissan Alliance manages to surprise the world once more with another ridiculous feat.

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Carlos Ghosn is now living in the very corporate house Nissan bought for $8.75 million in 2012 for his use in Beirut, Lebanon!

Had Carlos Ghosn carried on with his antics for a few more years, Nissan vehicles would have probably looked like this cutaway Leaf

The Japanese automaker is apparently trying to block Ghosn’s access to the pale-pink mansion in the historic district of Lebanon’s capital city, as well as a $3 million luxury apartment in Rio de Janeiro. Both homes were part of a global network of real estate owned by Nissan Motor Corporation and provided to its ousted chairman and his family.

The automaker has been trying to evict the Ghosns from the Beirut house since the executive’s arrest in late 2018 but has failed to do so. Last Thursday, Ghosn’s lawyer, Carlos Abou Jaoude, was seen entering the house, and cars with blacked-out windows were spotted entering and exiting the house’s garage.

The next day, reporters gathered outside the house noticed Nissan-hired security personnel dressed in black standing guard. Imagine that: Nissan bodyguards waiting outside Nissan’s own property for a chance to evict Carlos Ghosn and retrieve the keys to the mansion. But wait, there’s more!

Despite the fact that locks have already been changed at several other properties, Nissan is still unable to enter homes in Paris and Amsterdam because only Ghosn and his assistant have the keys, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter. Mind you, Nissan’s people did manage to prevent Ghosn’s wife, Carole, from entering the home in Beirut.

As The Drive‘s Patrick George tweeted, Ghosn still living in Nissan’s Beirut mansion is “possibly the biggest f***-you in the entire Ghosn escape story.” Many people are waiting for a movie about Ghosn but, as it turns out, there’s enough material out there for an entire series. Can you imagine how much juicy stuff still remains unsaid about Carlos Ghosn and his alleged wrongdoings considering the things that were allowed to transpire so far?
