A man in Middletown, Connecticut has -rather hilariously- live-streamed himself crashing along I-95 while speeding through traffic at speeds of up to 102 mph (164 km/h).
The 23-year-old, Kenneth Hofler, was traveling along I-95 on the Gold State Bridge at approximately 11:15 a.m. just over a week ago when Trooper James D. Matlock noticed the red Nissan Versa being driven by him going much faster than surrounding traffic. Matlock used a laser to clock the 23-year-old driving at 102 mph.
In the video, Hofler can be seen dangerously weaving between traffic with just one hand on the steering wheel and with his music blaring. He took Exit 85 toward downtown Groton but entered a right-hand bend with far too much speed. The car appears to understeer towards the edge of the road before violently oversteering and crashing.

Trooper James D. Matlock was following the Versa and witnessed the crash. When he caught up, he discovered the Nissan had smashed through 40-feet of guardrail and flipped. Hofler climbed out of the wreckage and was immediately detained.
Hartford Courant reports that Hofler was charged with reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured car, making an improper turn, and possession of more than an ounce of marijuana.
“Sometimes a trooper’s accident report writes itself,” state police wrote on Facebook when sharing the video. “The operator of this vehicle was kind enough to publicly live stream himself traveling over the Gold Star Memorial Bridge, while driving at reckless speeds prior to being involved in an accident. The posted speed limit for the Gold Star Memorial Bridge is 55 MPH. Speeding and live streaming is not only dangerous, it is illegal. Thankfully, this operator was wearing his seatbelt, or they could have suffered serious injuries.”
