With exactly two weeks left until the world debut of the fourth-generation Leon, Seat has dropped yet another teaser image that puts the spotlight on the rear end.
An evolution of the outgoing iteration, the 2020 Leon sports LED taillights, joined together by a light strip. It also features ‘Seat’ and ‘Leon’ badges in the middle of the tailgate, as well as an ‘FR’ logo positioned further to the right.

“The all-new Seat Leon has been designed by our team with courage, simplicity and executed with strength and determination”, said the company’s design director, Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos. “Simplicity because at Seat, we believe that most things can be said with just a few lines. Determination and strength because those are some of the attributes that make our cars recognizable seducing at first glance.”
Based on the same platform as the new Volkswagen Golf and Skoda Octavia, the Leon will pack a selection of petrol and diesel engines. A plug-in hybrid powertrain has been confirmed for the Cupra variant, which will be shared with the upcoming Octavia RS and perhaps the next Golf GTI. It combines the 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol unit with an electric motor, believed to develop a total of 242 HP (245 PS). The range-topping Seat Leon should enjoy around 200 PS (197 HP).
Cupra is reportedly working on an even more powerful hot hatch that should share the engine with the next Golf R. This model is expected to bring over 300 PS (296 HP) and an all-wheel drive system, which might propel it to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 5 seconds.
