Today, EPA released its official ratings for the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and as expected, it’s even less efficient than the Turbo.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the flagship variant of the electric Porsche Taycan offers a driving range of 192 miles (308 km) out of its 93.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, 9 less than the Taycan Turbo which made headlines last month with its disappointing performance on that matter.

However, the poor efficiency score is probably a direct result of the Taycan’s performance goals, as Porsche wanted to create more of a proper electric sports car and less of a traditional luxury four-door.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is also rated at 68 MPGe combined, making it officially the least efficient electric car in the US currently, dropping behind more bulky electric SUV models like the Tesla Model X Performance (79 MPGe) and the Audi E-Tron (74 MPGe). The Tesla Model S, arguably the most comparable EV to the Taycan currently, scores an excellent 97 MPGe.
All things considered, those after a 750 HP electric Porsche might not be that interested in its efficiency; especially the ones who are going to shell out at least $187,610 for the privilege of owning one. So far most of the reviews paint a picture of an electric car that’s supercar-fast both on track and on public road, offering its breathtaking performance again and again, unlike other fast EVs on the market.
