While the novelty of seeing high-performance Tesla models take on more expensive sports cars and supercars has somewhat started to wear off, this video from CarWow featuring the Tesla Model 3 Performance and Porsche 911 Carrera S is well worth a watch because the two are so evenly matched.

While the Model 3 Performance and 911 Carrera S are very different cars and appeal to different shoppers, not much separates the two on paper in terms of figures. Driving the 992-generation Carrera S is a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine delivering 444 hp and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque sending power through the rear-wheel via a PDK transmission.

By comparison, the Tesla uses two electric motors to make for all-wheel drive as well as 450 hp and 472 lb-ft (640 Nm) of torque.

Driven: 2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance Is Charged With Appeal

The first test lines put the duo up for a standing-start drag race. In the initial race, the Tesla gets a far superior launch and easily takes the win, crossing the quarter-mile in 11.8 seconds compared to the 12.1-seconds of the Porsche. In the second and third races, however, the Porsche virtually matches the Tesla off the mark and quickly passes the EV towards the end of the quarter-mile.

The second test involves a rolling drag race to test out the acceleration abilities of the duo as they are up and running while the final test aims to see which of the two can brake in the shortest distance. We won’t spoil any more results of these two tests, but will say that the braking test is remarkably close and may shock you.
