The Grand Tour host Richard Hammond has just taken delivery of his 2020 Morgan Plus Six.
Back in November, Hammond opened a poll on Drivetribe asking his followers to help spec his new ride. Readers were given the option to vote between a red leather interior and a blue leather interior and after more than 150,000 votes, roughly 60 per cent said red was the better choice. True to his word, Hammond went with the red interior finish. It looks fantastic.
The exterior of the car is also particularly intriguing. Rather than selecting to have it painted all in the same shade, Hammond decided to have some body panels in gloss black while others are finished in matte black. It makes for an interesting combination and certainly helps it stand out from all other Morgans we’ve seen.

Powering the Morgan Plus Six is a BMW-sourced 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine from the BMW Z4 M40i and Toyota Supra. On paper, it delivers 335 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) but Hammond’s new car features an upgraded exhaust system which supposedly give it a few more horses. Coupled to the engine is an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, sending the Plus Six to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds and through to a 166 mph (267 km/h) top speed.
Alongside the potent engine and transmission combination, the Morgan Plus Six is made all the more exciting by the fact that it only weighs 2,369 lbs (1,075 kg) and features the British brand’s new CX-Generation aluminum architecture.
