Just a few days after Mercedes-Benz previewed the facelifted 2021 E-Class and provided journalists with passenger rides in the car, we’ve caught our first glimpse at the sedan’s tweaked exterior design free of any camouflage.
While riding in the back seat of the refreshed E-Class, YouTuber MercBenzKing captured the moment the Mercedes engineer driving flicked between the car’s driving modes, an action that brings up an exterior image of the car on the large infotainment display.
Looking at this image, it’s clear that the front end of the new E-Class hasn’t undergone all that many changes (typical of German facelifts). We can see that the shape of the headlights is a touch different and slightly more aggressive although certainly not as striking as the lights of the latest CLS, for example. The E-Class pictured also lacks the company’s Panamericana mask (though the grille shape and size seems to have grown) and has quite simple silver wheels, perhaps because it’s an entry-level spec model on display.

We are not provided with a look at the car’s rear fascia but images of prototypes have shown it will receive taillights akin to those of the CLS.
In terms of powertrains, Mercedes-Benz will offer no less than seven plug-in hybrid models, as well as a series of other variants. Among the new engines set to join the E-Class range are the company’s latest 2.0-liter four-cylinder EQ Boost powertrain that delivers 268 hp. Mercedes-Benz’s six-cylinder EQ Boost powertrain with up to 362 hp will also be offered.
We expect the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class to premiere in the coming weeks with its formal debut to take place at the Geneva Motor Show in the beginning of March.
