What ever happened to just driving a car and not do anything else while at it?
Has that become too old-fashioned and boring for us humans? We may have been led to believe we can multitask but the reality is we can’t. That’s a myth long busted by scientists and it’s very dangerous to believe it when you’re behind the wheel of a vehicle.
Take, for instance, the driver of the white Chrysler 300 in this dashcam video shot in New Orleans, Lousiana, on January 22. We see the car entering a two-lane road and then accelerating on the straight stretch of pavement, without noticing that a pickup with a trailer attached to it was stationed on their lane about 200 yards ahead.

Mind you, the stationary truck was only signaled with a cone placed too close to it and didn’t have the hazard lights on. Still, that doesn’t absolve the Chrysler driver from not noticing a truck and a trailer in broad daylight, in the middle of the lane right in front of them.
That’s probably because they didn’t see anything at all, judging from the speed the sedan was carrying as it climbed the trailer and smashed into the pickup. As a result of this reckless behavior, the truck’s cabin got flattened and the Chrysler was badly damaged, landing on its right side after jumping Dukes of Hazzard-style over the stationary ensemble.
Thankfully, there are no reports on injuries but you can imagine what could have happened if someone was inside the truck when the Chrysler struck. As for the culprit, our money is their eyes were glued to the phone when this happened.
