Neither the Lamborghini Urus nor Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody are what you’d consider absolute ‘track weapons’, but to have a bit of fun, Motor Trend hit the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca with the two during its recent Best Drivers Car 2019 test.

Before we delve any further, we’ll point out the obvious that these two are not rivals and while they are both very fast, they couldn’t be any more different. Whereas the Lamborghini Urus is a luxurious and comfortable SUV that doubles as a performance weapon, the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is an American-bred muscle car with a knack for going very fast in a straight line but having some difficulties when it comes to taking corners.

Looking at the spec sheet, it would appear as though the Dodge has the obvious advantage. It is powered by a de-tuned 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine from the Demon that’s good for 797 hp and 707 lb-ft (957 Nm) of torque. In a straight-line, Dodge says the car can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.4 seconds and a 203 mph (326 km/h) top speed.

By comparison, the Lamborghini Urus features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine with 641 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. It needs roughly 3.2 seconds to hit 60 mph and tops out at 190 mph (305 km/h).

Around a track as difficult as Laguna Seca, these stats only tell part of the story and it’s not long before the Lamborghini starts to show the Dodge a thing or two.
