The 2021 Genesis GV80 premiered in U.S.-guise this week in Miami, Florida, and Redline Reviews had the opportunity to check it out up close (we’ve also included a second video from the earlier South Korean presentation below).
With both the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade already on sale in the United States, someone could question the need for yet another mid-size SUV from the Hyundai-Kia family. However, the reviewer notes in this video that the GV80 bumps up the luxury and feels much more premium than the Telluride and Palisade.
In the United States, the GV80 will be offered with both a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 300 hp as well as a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 producing in excess of 370 hp.

Most of the action of the GV80 takes place in the cabin. As the reviewer notes, the GV80 feels very premium and is clad in plush and soft-touch leather. Drivers are welcomed by a sleek two-spoke leather-clad steering wheel, a fully-digital gauge cluster, and a large 14.5-inch widescreen infotainment system sitting in the dash. This screen is touch-sensitive and can also be operated through a more traditional rotary dial.
In the second row, space looks very good and the seats can slide forwards and back. The seats in the second row are even heated and cooled and hidden in the windows is a power-retractable shade. As for the third-row, it houses two additional seats and appears to have decent space, easily offering enough room for the 5-foot-7 reviewer.
Genesis has yet to announce U.S. pricing details for the 2021 GV80 but it is tipped to start at around the high-$40,000s.
