Nissan is at a crossroads, but that hasn’t stopped the company from teasing a new crossover for India.

The company is keeping details under wraps, but the teaser image shows the compact crossover will have a short hood, bulging fenders and sweptback headlights.

We can also see a prominent shoulder line, a rakish windscreen and a gently sloping roof. Other notable highlights include an angular rear window, a thick rear pillar and an expansive greenhouse.

According to Nissan, the B-SUV will be a “feature-rich premium offering” that is “designed for tomorrow’s journey.” That’s pretty vague, but the company said the model will build on their crossover heritage and feature a “strong and dynamic road presence” as well as the latest technology.

The model was made for the Indian market and will apparently be built there. Nissan didn’t go in specifics, but said the crossover will be their “first made for India compact SUV on the philosophy of ‘Make in India, Make for the World.’”

While Nissan is playing coy, Autocar India reports the model will be introduced this fall and measure less than 157 inches (4000 mm) long. This suggests the crossover will battle the Ford EcoSport and Hyundai Venue as well as local entries such as the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

Specifications remains unconfirmed, but the publication says the model will ride on the CMF-A platform and be twinned with an upcoming crossover from Renault. Power will reportedly be provided by a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine which can be paired to either a five-speed manual or an automated manual transmission.
