A rare 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo ‘Slant Nose’ Cabriolet is currently up for sale on eBay with a classified price of $90,000. Is it worth it?

The first thing to note about this 911 Turbo Slant Nose is that it has been extensively damaged having been involved in a crash back in the 1990s. The listing claims that the car was not insured at the time and the accident was not reported. Consequently, it’s difficult to say exactly what happened but images show it must have been one heck of a crash as damage has been done to the front and rear of the sports car as well as both sides.

Most troubling is the fact that the entire car looks bent although it’s hard to say if that’s just damage sustained to the bodywork or if the chassis itself has been twisted. Either way, it doesn’t look pretty and even the listing says it “will not be a cheap restoration” to return the car back to its former glory.

This 14k mile ‘Slant Nose’ 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet was listed for $199,000 back in 2015

Porsche only sold 591 examples of the 911 Turbo Slant Nose Cabriolet in the United States, each outfitted with a 3.2-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine muscling up 282 hp and mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Well maintained and low mileage examples to be sold in recent years have fetched in the mid-$300,000 range.

With only 18,609 miles on the odo and a $90,000 asking price, there’s certainly some money to be made here but not only would a restoration require a lot of money but it would also require a lot of time. It’s also hard to say how much interest there would be in a 911 Turbo Slant Nose that was once so badly damaged in an unreported crash.
