The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Boxster Spyder will soon be available with dual-clutch PDK transmissions, Evo reports.
Both the current Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder are sold exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission and it was the same story with the previous-generation models. It is understood Porsche is making its PDK available in a bid to broaden the appeal of the two hardcore variants and drive up sales.

Pricing details for the PDK-equipped Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder remain unclear although both models will hit the market before the end of the year.
Powering both the current Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder is a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-six engine and while you may think that’s the same engine of the 911 GT3, it isn’t. Instead, Stuttgart engineers took the twin-turbo 3.0-liter from the 911, ditched the turbochargers, increased capacity to 4.0-liters and added some motorsport-inspired parts so the engine delivers an impressive 414 hp and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque.
Both models can sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.4 seconds with the Boxster Spyder topping out at 187 mph (301 km/h) while the Cayman GT4 can continue through to 189 mph (304 km/h). It is reasonable to assume that the presence of a dual-clutch PDK transmission will enable the two models to accelerate slightly faster than when equipped with the involving stick-shift.
