A unique 1968 Jaguar E-Type, also sold as the XK-E in the North American market, is up for sale on eBay and bound to upset some purists.
The seller of the car claims to have acquired it more than 30 years ago after it was rolled and extensively damaged in a crash. Eager to do all they could to make sure the classic Jaguar wasn’t scrapped, a comprehensive re-build was completed six years ago that saw the E-Type transformed into a vehicle unlike any other.

Most notably, the car is now mid-engined and uses a 1990 Chevrolet TPI 350 engine with Edelbrock high flow aluminum heads and mated to an automatic transmission. Housing this engine is the rear-frame of a 1974 Cadillac that means the rear wheels have been pushed out well beyond the extremities of the Jaguar’s normal bodywork. Housing the widened rear wheels and tires are flared arches.
The new body panels adorning the exterior of the car are all made from sheet metal while the windshield remains an OEM part from Jaguar. Also found are headlights from a 2004 Ford Taurus and seats from a Datsun 240Z. Viper Red is the color of choice.
The finished creation is extremely striking and shockingly ugly. At the time of writing it had attracted a highest bid of $6,001 with just a few hours left in the auction. The engine has about 680 miles (1,094 km) under its belt.
