Many members of the press along with socialmedialites over in the U.S. recently had the opportunity to test out the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and one of them was YouTuber Cleetus McFarland.
McFarland, whose real name is Garrett Mitchell, has made a name for himself filming videos of immensely powerful performance cars and loves nothing more than launching down the quarter-mile. Let’s say his review is a little different than what you’ll see from a seasoned journalist but provides a different perspective on the new Corvette.
One of the first things the YouTuber set out to see was how to do a burnout in the new Corvette. As he discovers, however, it’s not quite as easy as doing a burnout in a car with a manual gearbox as the C8 wants to enable launch control when you disable the traction control, press the brake, and hit the throttle.

McFarland wasn’t able to do a burnout in the car during his review but a bit of research indicates that it can be done. To do so, drivers simply need to put the car in drive, stamp on the brake, pull in both paddles to open the clutches, floor the throttle, and release the paddles when you’re ready to let the rear wheels start spinning up.
The content creator appears particularly fond of how the new Corvette sounds. With a roaring 6.2-liter V8 engine pumping out 490 hp and 495 lb-ft (671 Nm) of torque located just behind the passenger cell, it’s easy to understand why the new C8 is proving to be so loved.
