It might be hard to say ‘no’ to Porsche’s latest 911, but if there’s one car that could lure you away, especially if you’re looking to deviate from sensible choice, then that’s the 2021 Jaguar F-Type.

Even after all those years, it sill boasts looks to die for with matching performance specs, especially in the current range-topper of the series, the F-Type R. Capable of sprinting from nought to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds, en route to a 186 mph (300 km/h) top speed, it packs Jaguar’s familiar 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine.

Review: 2021 Jaguar F-Type R Facelift – What’s New Pussycat?

The eight-cylinder unit pumps out 567 HP (575 PS / 423 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque, which makes it more powerful than the original Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera – faster, too, but don’t tell that to any Lambo fan boy as they probably won’t believe you. The F-Type R’s engine comes paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. It also gets a tuned suspension and a mode that – in theory, but not really as this reviewer showed, lets it fire up the engine without causing mayhem.

Now, on paper, the F-Type R’s abilities sound great. You get more power than some of yesterday’s supercars, an all-weather four-wheel drive system and very fast take-offs. But how does that translate into the real world? MotorsportMagazine decided that it needs to be subjected to an acceleration test: from 0 to 290 km/h (0-180 mph). That’s after the mandatory beauty shots, though, which bring that revised styling forward once again. By the way, don’t open a bag of chips, as the video is less than a minute long.
