For $69,500, You Can Get A Mercedes-Benz E320 Crewcab Pickup In The States

The W210-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class is one of the most recognizable produced by the German automaker and this particular E320, currently up for sale from Hyman Ltd in St. Louis, Missouri, is one of the more intriguing.

The listing for the car reveals that it left the factory as a wagon and was shipped directly to Karrosserie Binz in Germany that saw it transformed into a four-door pickup truck.

Binz has a long and rich history as one of Germany’s premier coachbuilders with experience creating everything from distinctive estates to ambulances, hearses, and limousines. The original owner of this E320 pickup used the car to help promote his dealership.

While a coachbuilder could have simply chopped off the rear of the E-Class Wagon’s roof, made a few changes, and called it a pickup, Karrosserie Binz did a lot more than that. For example, it stretched the car by no less than 29 inches (736 mm) and fabricated a bespoke bed behind the rear seats. The car also includes tubular stainless steel bed rails and bespoke LED lighting in the cargo box. The conversion reportedly cost $49,760 and that excludes the price of the E320 donor car.

A clean Carfax report reveals the E320 was retained by the original owner until 2006 when it was sold to a buyer in California. The car has just over 21,000 miles (33,796 km) on the clock and is said to be in superb condition, both inside and out. It sits on a set of staggered 18-inch AMG Monobloc alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The standard M112 3.2-liter V6 and five-speed automatic transmission have been retained. The dealer is asking $69,500 for the car.
