Earlier this week, DS Automobiles introduced the DS 9, a modern saloon that will launch in Europe during the second half of the year.

Based on China’s extended-wheelbase Peugeot 508L family car, it has a footprint that places it closer to the executive segment at 4,933 mm (194.2 in) long, 1,855 mm (73 in) wide, and 1,468 mm (57.8 in) tall with a 2,895 mm (114 in) long wheelbase, though in practice, it’s more of a French alternative to mid-size sedans like the VW Passat and Audi A4.

As to be expected, the DS 9 fell in the hands of rendering artists, with XTomi envisioning it as a coupe, with longer doors and bigger rear quarter panels, as well as a shorter roof and smaller rear side windows. In this guise, you can think of it as something in the likes of the BMW 4-Series or Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupes.

The actual DS 9 sedan that the rendered coupe is based on

We’ve heard nothing about a coupe DS 9, but just to play along, such a model would theoretically use the same ingredients as the four-door variant. This means a plug-in hybrid powertrain producing 225 HP, joined by a 250 HP edition with two-wheel drive and a 360 HP model with all-wheel drive. The first one, which will be available at launch, has an electric range of 40-50 km (25-31 miles) with the battery fully charged.

If you’re planning on seeing the DS 9 in person, then you will have to visit the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, which starts next week, as it will be on display, alongside the newly unveiled DS Aero Sport Lounge Concept.
