Authorities in Belmar, New Jersey issued 25 tickets to a number of attendees at a recent impromptu ‘Pop Up Car Meet’ on Ocean Avenue this past Monday evening.
As reported by NJ.com, shortly after a social media call was made for a car meet in the Jersey Shore town, dozens of local car enthusiasts came along. Unfortunately for some of them, police were on hand and issued a number tickets for parking violations and violations of motor vehicle laws or local ordinances.
Social media posts from the event show that many car owners were on their best behavior during the event, simply wanting to show their cars to other enthusiasts. There was also a wide array of vehicles in attendance from supercars including Nissan GT-Rs and a Lamborghini Huracan through to various BMW M models and a number of Porsches. However, footage does show at least one BMW and one Ford Mustang performing dangerous burnouts mere feet away from attendees.

The borough’s business administrator Edward D. Kirschenbaum Sr said to the local media that car enthusiasts are free to organize such events as long as they don’t violate local laws.
“People have a right to go wherever they want to go. They don’t have a right to violate noise, parking or motor-vehicle laws,” he said. “But people can gather wherever they want.”
This was the second impromptu car event held in Belmar in recent months. Local police were aware that this latest meet was being organized after monitoring the social media accounts of those known to publicize the gatherings.
