The Tesla Model 3 Performance, Tesla Model X P100D, and Tesla Model S Performance are the three quickest vehicles currently offered by the American car manufacturer.
It’s no secret that the Model S Performance is the quickest-accelerating of the trio, followed by the Model X and then the Model 3, but CarWow recently decided to see how the three compare on a wet airstrip.
In a drag race from a standing start in slippery conditions, all three got off the line with extraordinary pace and were very evenly matched up to around 60 mph (96 km/h).

However, as the speeds started to increase, the Model S Performance and Model X P100D started to open up a gap on their smaller sibling, eventually crossing the quarter-mile mark in 11.4 seconds and 11.5 seconds respectively. The Model 3 Performance needed 11.8 seconds to run down the quarter-mile.
A rolling race is then held between them and the results are virtually identical to those of the first race, with all three accelerating away at similar speeds before the Model S and Model X start to stretch out an advantage over the Model 3. However, it is very impressive how well matched the Model 3 is with its more powerful and expensive siblings.
The third and final test is a braking test. Will this be the test that allows the Model 3 to make the most of its lighter overall weight? Check out the video to find out.
