The first FCA model to get a rearview digitial camera isn’t a posh Maserati or even a passenger car, for that matter, but a commercial van as part of the 2021MY updates for the Promaster that was revealed at The Work Truck Show in Indianapolis.

The reskinned version of the Fiat Ducato retains the looks of the 2020 model, which was facelifted two years ago, and adds a few standard items and lots of extras.

Speaking of features that will make customers search their pockets, these include the digital rearview mirror that replaces the traditional mirror with a 9.2-inch wide LCD monitor. The FCA-first option is joined by other features, such as the Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection, Forward Collision Warning with Emergency Brake Assist and Ambient/Courtesy Lights.

It’s not all about extra Benjamins when it comes to the 2021 ProMaster, as the van has also gained additional standard equipment like the Crosswind Assist, which helps keep the vehicle stable in strong lateral winds.

RAM’s PR fluff claims that the ProMaster boasts best-in-class turning radius, load-floor height, standard interior cargo height, cargo width between the wheel wells and maximum cargo width. For the new model year, it’s available in 18 different configurations of the wheelbase length and roof height. Power continues to come from the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that produces 280 horsepower, driving the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Pricing details will be announced at a later date, just before it goes on sale this summer. For the record, the outgoing model starts at $29,995.
