Roughly 18 months ago, Porsche unveiled a modern-day interpretation of the iconic 935 race car. That car quickly sold out and looks pretty sensational but that hasn’t stopped designer Artem Neretin from imagining an even more wild tribute to the 935.

Neretin’s creation is based on the striking 935 K3 model. The original K3 was built by Kremer Racing from Germany and went on to claim victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979. This modern-day tribute to the iconic race car adopts incredibly striking bodywork and would clearly be limited to track use.

The front of the car pictured adopts a pair of thin LED vertical headlights as well as a pronounced front splitter. There’s also a beautifully smooth hood and a set of small air vents on the front quarter panels. Aerodynamics were a key consideration for Neretin when designing the car with aero caps on the wheels and tiny wing mirrors to help the racer slip through the air.

At the rear, the new-age Porsche 935 K3 is utterly crazy with a towering rear wing and a sharp diffuser to suck the racer onto the tarmac. A classic Apple Computer livery, inspired by the 935 K3 that ran at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1980, completes the amazing exterior.

Is there a chance Porsche will introduce another modern version of the 935 race car? It seems very unlikely but if it did, we’d love for it to look like this.
