If history has taught us anything, it’s that McLaren will follow-up the hardcore 765LT with a limited-run Spider model. It did just that with the 675LT and 600LT and these illustrations from Akysonov Nikita show what the latest Super Series model would look like with a folding hardtop.
Compared to the ‘regular’ 720S, the 765LT benefits from a host of comprehensive visual and aerodynamic modifications. The front, for example, features a new front splitter and bumper while a pair of air vents also sit proudly on top of the wheel arches.
Things are even more striking at the rear thanks to new quad tailpipes, a distinctive bumper, and a carbon fiber diffuser.
If McLaren does indeed make a 765LT Spider, it would likely be mechanically identical to the Coupe. Consequently, its modified 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 would churn out no less than 755 hp and 590 lb-ft (799 Nm) of torque and be able to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in roughly 2.7 seconds and 124 mph (200 km/h) in 7.2 seconds. The quarter-mile will also come in less than 10 seconds.

One particularly interesting aspect of the Coupe’s design is the elongated rear window that’s allowed McLaren to fit a little porthole in the cabin that looks directly through to the engine. Sadly, the design of a potential 765LT Spider wouldn’t allow for this and the decklid would likely closely mimic that of the 720S Spider.
McLaren built 500 examples of the 675LT Coupe and 500 units of the 675LT Spider. Production of the 765LT has been announced at 765 so if a Spider is made, it too will likely be capped at 765 examples.
