Ford was going to unveil the all-new Bronco on March 17th, but the event has now been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In post on FullSizeBronco a user shared an e-mail sent by Ford’s Chief Communications Officer Mark Truby. It said “While we looked forward to hosting you for our Bronco Brand Immersion and all-new Bronco embargoed technical briefing next week, the safety of our employees, partners and media friends remains paramount. With that in mind, we’ve made the decision to cancel our event due to the ongoing coronavirus concerns.”
The message went on to say the company apologies for the inconvenience and to “stay tuned for updates regarding the return of Bronco.”

Ford confirmed the news with Carscoops and said they’re currently working to establish new dates for the event. The cancellation shouldn’t come as much of a surprise as General Motors recently suspended press drives and the New York Auto Show was pushed back until August.
In related news, Ford released a statement detailing how they’re handling the outbreak. It said “Ford’s top priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees, dealers, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. Thankfully, the effect of the coronavirus on Ford employees so far has been very limited.”
However, “In recent days … we concluded the issue has taken on a different dimension – and are continuing to act in real time to keep our people safe and help limit the spread of the virus in communities where we live and work. Therefore, starting Monday, we are instructing much of our global workforce – except those in business-critical roles that cannot be done away from Ford facilities – to work remotely until further notice.”
The news comes shortly after Michigan entered a coronavirus crisis. The state’s first two presumptive positive cases were confirmed on March 10th and Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency.
Yesterday, the number of presumptive positive cases in Michigan jumped to 12 and Whitmer announced all K-12 schools would close until April 5th. Despite these actions, the number of cases is expected grow.
Getting back to presentations, Hyundai confirmed they’re cancelling or postponing a number of upcoming events. The debut of the 2021 Elantra will still take place on March 17th, but it will be a livestreamed event with no audience.
