The BMW i8 is one of the most innovative sports cars on the market but the owner of the following example might be a muscle car enthusiast at heart.

We’re not sure where this photo was snapped but it was shared on Reddit and shows the i8 has been applied with a matte black wrap as well as a number of matte gold accents, including on the hood and the front air intake surrounds. However, the most striking aspect of this i8 is the graphic on the hood.

Those with an interest in cars will instantly recognize this graphic as it’s exactly what was used by the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am where it was also finished in gold.

There are perhaps a couple of possibilities that could explain the interesting choice of design made by the BMW owner.

The first, as we mentioned above, is simply that the owner is a fan of the Trans Am and perhaps even owns one themselves. A second possibility could be that the i8 driver was simply presented the graphic at a wrap shop and liked it without knowing about its significance with one of America’s most iconic cars.

Whatever the case may be, it suits the personality of the i8 quite well, making it stand out and look unlike any other.
