The Polestar 1 brings with it concept car looks and an innovative hybrid powertrain and is certainly one of the most intriguing sports cars on the market. But, how does it perform against a pair of more established sports cars? This video from Auto Motor und Sport over in Germany Sweden answers that question.
We don’t speak Swedish, but the first 7-minutes of the video appears to simply provide a run-down of the cars, so feel free to skip ahead to the actual race. The race, by the way, is surprisingly close and well worth watching.

The two cars lined against the black Polestar 1 were a BMW i8 and a Porsche 911 Carrera. The i8 is one of the only other hybrid sports cars currently on sale while the 911 is perhaps the quintessential sports car. A look at the spec sheet gives us an idea of how the trio stack up against each other.
Driving the Polestar is a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors at the rear wheels. All up, the car is good for 600 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque, giving it a huge power advantage over the i8 and Carrera.
Power for the BMW sits at 369 hp and 420 lb-ft (569 Nm) and comes courtesy of a 1.5-liter three-cylinder and two electric motors. Driving the 911 is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six with 379 hp and 331 lb-ft (449 Nm). While the Polestar has the most power, it’s also the heaviest, weighing in at a portly 5,180 lbs (2,350 kg).
