Carlyle Racing’s new-gen Chevrolet Corvette C8 continues turning heads at the drag strip, as after it raced the Toyota Supra and Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, it was filmed again going flat-out against the clock.

The bowtie brand revealed an official 11.2 seconds required to run the quarter mile, at 121 mph (195 km/h), and as it turns out, it’s not impossible to achieve that number. On a good day, in perfect weather and with a flawless takeoff, it’s a low-11-second car, and with nitrous oxide in the system, that time drops to the mid 10-second range.

In the quickest run of the day, the said example posted 10.65 seconds at 130 mph (209 km/h), and besides benefiting from the NOS system, it also ran on drag radials. Keep in mind that they’ve only had the car for a few days, and they already set out to improve it. At this pace, we wouldn’t be surprised if they return to the strip in a few weeks with additional modifications that would further slash the time to under 10 seconds.

As it stands, the 2020 Corvette C8 can already mix it with more expensive machines, as it brags about hitting the 60 mph (96 km/h) mark in less than 3 seconds after setting off, and if the road conditions (and legislation) allows it, it will max out at 194 mph (312 km/h). The 6.2-liter V8 engine develops up to 495 HP and 470 pound-feet (637 Nm) of torque, and more powerful derivatives are said to be in the pipeline.
