Sometimes, being forbidden by the government to leave your home for an indefinite period of time can have some unexpected consequences.

Take, for instance, automotive illustrator Aksyonov Nikita, who found himself merging the design of the BMW i3 with the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. We can only assume that, when he became aware of what he was doing, the project was too advanced to scrap.

So, ladies and gentlemen, here’s the 2021 Alfa Romeo City Hybrid, a fusion no one asked for that happens to look better than we expected. Why are we featuring this? First and foremost for the execution, which is spot on. Who would have thought two completely different cars like the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio sports sedan and the BMW i3 urban EV would combine in a way that is not extremely offensive to the eye?

As you can see, the Photoshop expert used the BMW i3’s bodywork and spiced it up with Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio styling cues. He did not use the Italian sports sedan’s taillights, however, going for two round units instead.

Does this mean we are going to see BMW i3 owners convert their EVs to look like Giulia Quadrifoglios now? We don’t think so, though these strange renderings could prove to be prophetic. Don’t think so? Then you probably weren’t around when Aston Martin did precisely this to a Toyota iQ slapping it with the Cygnet nameplate and an absurd price tag while at it.

Who knows, in a not-to-distant future where people will only be able to buy electric vehicles, coachbuilders could make a pretty penny converting EVs to look like automotive icons of the past.
