The unveiling of the all-new 2021 Genesis G80 was one of the few car launches scheduled during these very challenging times and, like all the others, it was done exclusively online.
While our presentation from two days ago covered the essentials, we’ve come across a boatload of new photos and a detailed brochure of the Korean-spec 2021 Genesis G80. We believe you’ll be interested in checking them out, as they show the executive sedan in a variety of configurations.
The photos also include the first dynamic shots of the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class rival. Starting off with the brochures, while none of us here at CarScoops speaks Korean, the photos are pretty self-explanatory.
Watch: Take A First Close Look At The Luxurious 2021 Genesis G80
We can see the various options available for the 2021 G80, including the optional Signature Design Selection I and Signature Design Selection II quilted leather upholstery seats available in several colors, with various compatible wood and metal trim options. The Standard Design seats look fine to us, but the optional Signature Design Selection II certainly make the Genesis G80 look special.
The brochure also reveals the exterior color palette for the Korean market, which consists of 14 metallic paints and 2 matte ones, as well as four alloy wheel designs. They include 18-, 19- and 20-inch rims, with one of the 19-inch models looking very similar to the standard wheels offered on the restyled 2020 Genesis G90.
On the tech front, the brochure illustrates some of the driver assistance systems offered by the 2021 G80, including Remote Smart Parking Assist, Drive Video Record System, Highway Driving Assist II and Driver Attention Warning.
As our visual comparison reveals all too well, the 2021 Genesis G80 is a massive departure from its predecessor, especially when it comes to the interior. As for the exterior, while it’s definitely original, some of us aren’t totally sold out on it yet and are waiting to see the car in the metal.
Until then, let us remind you that in Korea, customers can choose between three powertrains. The range includes a 210 PS (207 HP) 2.2 VGT four-cylinder turbo diesel, a 304 PS (300 HP) 2.5 T-GDi turbocharged four-cylinder petrol, and a 380 PS (375 HP) turbocharged 3.5 T-GDi turbocharged V6 petrol. Each one is offered with either standard RWD or available AWD.
The petrol engines will also be available in the U.S. when the 2021 Genesis G80 will start crossing the Pacific Ocean in the second half of the year.
