Want To Play Hardcore? Try This 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series

The SL65 AMG Black Series is, without a doubt, one of the most hardcore street-legal Mercs ever produced by the German carmaker, and this one is currently up for sale.

It is a 2009 model, with roughly 10,500 miles (17,000 km) on its massively powerful twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine. It’s also one of just 350 units produced worldwide, 175 of which made their way to the United States.

According to its Bring a Trailer ad, this car had a sticker price of $304,350 in 2009 when it was brand new, and if you think that’s crazy, well, we’ll get into the specs in just a bit.

The exterior is finished in black, featuring a functional diffuser and a power-actuated rear spoiler, which was recently repaired and re-synchronized. The car’s wider track allows for large 265/35 and 325/30 wheels, measuring 19-inches in diameter at the front and 20-inches out back.

Inside, there is black AMG Exclusive leather with matching carpets, Alcantara headliner, carbon fiber trim, 12-way power adjustable sports seats with contrast stitching, Mercedes’ old COMAND infotainment system, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon LOGIC7 sound system, in-dash 6-disc DVD/CD changer, AMG sill plates, dual-zone climate control, and the Keyless-Go function.

Now, why would such a car cost more than $300,000 back in 2009? Well, aside from the fact that it is 551 lbs (250 kg) lighter than the regular SL65 AMG, its twin turbochargers are bigger than the latter’s, allowing for an output of 661 HP and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque.

With the help of an AMG Speedshift Plus 5-speed gearbox, the SL65 Black Series will rocket to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds, which used to be about as quick as it got for conventional supercars back in the late 2000s.
