The moment a truck driver in Northampton, Massachusetts underestimated the height of the truck he was driving has been caught on dashcam.
The incident happened at just past 5 a.m. on the morning of April 2, 2020 at the Bridge Street railroad overpass, referred to by some locals as the “truck-eating bridge.”

The out-of-state truck driver can be seen approaching the bridge and passing a flashing light and warning sign indicating that the bridge is 11-feet tall. A few seconds later, the trucker passes a second warning sign and switches on his right turn signal, indicating that he will turn off before the bridge. At the last moment, however, the driver turns the turn signal off and attempts to get under the bridge, passing yet another warning sign in the process, Mass Live reports.

A loud crunch can be heard as the truck tries to pass under the overpass before the trucker switches on the hazard lights and hops out, inevitably more than a little embarrassed at the mistake they’d just made.
The Northampton Police Department took to Facebook to share some images of the aftermath. Significant damage has been caused to the trailer and it also appears as though some damage has been done to the cab of the truck as well. Local authorities say the trucker was cited for the crash and warned of people who “put too much faith in their GPS sometimes.”
