The C8 Corvette Stingray is all the rage at the moment but what if we were to tell you that for less than $5,000, you could by a rear-engined Chevrolet (OK, the seller says it’s mid-engine, but it doesn’t look like it).

The weird creation you’re looking at is currently up for sale in the small town of Onawa in Iowa and started out life as a Chevrolet Citation. It has since been transformed into a bizarre three-wheeler and two-seater perhaps inspired by the Reliant Robin.

Starting with the rear of the car, it is quite clearly actually just the front of a Chevrolet Citation that now forms the back of the car. Consequently, the headlights have been converted to taillights and the engine looks to be untouched, except for the fact that rather than sitting over the front axle like it once was, it now sits over the rear axle.

Look beyond the rear and things take an unusual turn. The bodywork slowly gets narrower and narrower leading to a front-end not too dissimilar in proportions to the Reliant Robin and using just a single front wheel. The bizarre layout means there is just a single front seat located centrally in the thin cabin as well as a second seat directly behind, jet fighter style.

Very few details about the vehicle are available online including just who is responsible for making it but the listing says the previous owner “made a lot of crazy projects before this one.”

No mileage details have been offered but the seller is asking for $4,895 in the listing on Cars. That may sound cheap for a rear- or mid-engined car, but would you really go out in the open road with this one?
