The Acura (Honda) NSX is not the most practical car in the world, but one man in the United States is embarking on modifying his NSX so he can take it for a cross-country journey and sleep in it.
Enter the intriguing world of Instagram user NSXTRA who owns a gorgeous red NSX that looks to have been extensively modified. Among the modifications that stand out include aftermarket wheels, bespoke side skirts, a new front bumper, and a lowered suspension system. However, it’s what is on the roof that makes this NSX unique.

In the first video above, the owner talks us through how he has fitted a tent to the roof of the iconic Japanese mid-engine sports car. He admits, however, that he actually hasn’t been in the tent out of fear that it could dent the rear quarter panels that it’s affixed to. When he does set off on his cross-country journey, he won’t have the tent mounted to the Acura’s roof and will instead fit a sleek cargo box that’s featured in the second video.
Where will he sleep? Well, that’s where things get really interesting. Towards the end of the video focusing on the tent, the YouTuber reveals that he recently purchased the shell of a second NSX with the intent of turning it into a track car. He has since decided to cut that NSX shell in half and turn it into a trailer. He will then attach the tent to the roof of the trailer.
All said and done, he will soon be driving across the country in a red Honda NSX with a cargo box while towing the rear of a second red NSX with a tent on its roof. If that’s not epic, we don’t know what is.
