When driving a Tesla, it’s hard to resist the urge to pin the throttle at every possible opportunity and the driver of the following Tesla could have got in a lot of trouble for doing just that.

This clip was recently shared on YouTube and captured from the rear-facing camera of a Tesla. While it’s unclear what exact model it is, it looks quick. Very quick.

Shortly after the traffic light turns green, the Tesla lurches forward and accelerates down the road with extraordinary speed, quickly opening up a gap of a few hundred feet from the vehicles behind it. Unfortunately for the driver, one of those vehicles just so happened to be a Ford Explorer police vehicle.

Not long after the Tesla opens up a significant gap from the rest of traffic, the Explorer pulls into the lane next to it and flicks on its flashing lights while also shining a spotlight into the EV. At that moment, we’re sure the driver had a heart attack thinking they would be pulled over.

Bizarrely, the police made no attempt to pull over the Tesla, even though he likely exceeded the speed limit when accelerating away from the traffic lights. It seems as though the police simply decided to flash on their lights as they were passing by to warn the Tesla driver and to just let them know that they were watching.
