Four years after production of the latest (sixth) generation model began in 2012, the Maserati Quattroporte received its first facelift. While the time seems ripe for a new model to break cover, the Italian company is instead prolonging the current Quattroporte’s life with yet another refresh.
These new shots show that the front end will be mildly modified with tweaked headlights featuring different graphics, alongside minor design adjustments for the bumper and the grille.

As with most facelifts these days, the big sedan’s profile will be left untouched. While the same holds true for this particular prototype’s rear end, in all likelihood, the trident brand will add the rear bumper and taillights to the list of updates, alongside the wheels and available the color palette. The rear quarter panel logos and ‘Quattroporte’ badge on the boot lid were covered up.
Our spy photographers managed to take a quick peek inside, where the dashboard panel was partially under wraps. The infotainment system appears to be new, but everything else, from the analogue gauges to the clock flanked by the mid air vents, climate control, steering wheel and so on carry over. The prototype was fitted with carbon fiber trim, which will be one of the extras, alongside wood inserts. However, by the time we see it in production, Maserati will probably apply further revisions in the interior as well.
It is understood that the latest Quattroporte will soldier on with the same engine choices that might become more frugal. Customers should expect the 3.0- and 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 and V8 that pump out 424 and 523 HP respectively in the outgoing iteration, alongside the 3.0-liter V6 diesel, rated at 271 HP, which will be kept away from North America.
Previous reports indicated that the updated Quattroporte will enter production this summer. However, the coronavirus pandemic may have delayed the brand’s plans, so it should be unveiled before the end of 2020, or early next year, as a 2021MY.
