General Motors has released the first pictures of the facelifted Buick Regal GS.

Since the model is essentially a rebranded Opel Insignia GSi, the changes aren’t too surprising and include a revised grille that is flanked by new LED headlights.

The model also features a new front bumper with restyled air intakes. The latter retain their distinctive metallic surrounds on the high-performance variant. Elsewhere, we can see black five-spoke alloy wheels which are contrasted by red brake calipers.

While the company only released two low-resolution exterior pictures, they confirmed the car will come equipped with an eConnect 2.5 infotainment system. It features a Baidu AI voice assistant and support for wireless Apple CarPlay.

Buick was coy on performance specifications, but confirmed the facelifted model will have a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that is connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission. In the outgoing sedan, it was rated at 257 hp (192 kW / 261 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. This enabled the car to run from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 7.2 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 149 mph (240 km/h).

However, the facelifted Insignia GSi has a new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder developing 227 hp (169 kW / 230 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. It remains unclear if the Regal GS will also feature the less powerful engine, but we should find out relatively soon.

Regardless of what the engine is rated at, we can expect the car to be equipped with a FlexRide suspension and a torque vectoring all-wheel drive system. There should also be Brembo brakes and an upgraded steering system.

The facelifted Regal will be forbidden fruit in North America as Buick is transitioning to a crossover-only brand in the United States and Canada. However, China escaped this fate as “demand for sedans remains significant” in the country.
