The Mercedes-AMG A 45 S is one serious performer out of the box but tuning company Posaidon has just released an upgrade package that takes the hot hatch to new levels.
Dubbed the RS 525, Posaidon’s modified A 45 S churns out 518 HP (525 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. Those are some serious gains over the car’s standard output figures of 416 HP (422 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) and become all the more impressive when you remember the hot hatch only sports a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a single turbocharger. Not bad, right?
Posaidon has achieved its power gains with the fitment of a more efficient and upgraded turbocharger while also optimizing the engine software.

The control units for the AMG Speedshift transmission have also been optimized, allowing the car to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from standstill in just 3.4 seconds and even more impressively, a top speed of 201 mph (324 km/h) – unheard of for a hot hatch like this. Posaidon says it is working on an even more powerful ‘Plus’ model.
For those who don’t need quite that much power, Posaidon offers another upgrade package that focuses exclusively on engine map optimizations to increase grunt to 465 hp and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm). This model will hit 62 mph in 3.6 seconds and is still capable of 198 mph (318 km/h).
As Posaidon is a German company, its A 45 S modifications will need to be TÜV approved for street use. The company plans on offering the same engine upgrades to all of Mercedes-AMGs other ‘45’ models.
