Yet another new electric vehicle has emerged out of China. The EV, dubbed the ArcFox Alpha-T, is a sleek-looking SUV that will be manufactured through a joint venture between BAIC and Magna.
For those that don’t know, ArcFox is an electric vehicle brand under BJEV which itself is a division of BAIC. The company has presented a series of concept cars in the past but this appears to be its first production model.
Powering the Alpha-T is a pair of electric motors that combine to produce 218 hp and 265 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque. These motors get their grunt from a large 93.6 kWh battery pack from SK in South Korea. The SUV has been rated at an impressive 406 miles (653 km) of driving range over the NEDC cycle.

Not a great deal of other details are known about the Alpha-T. With that being said, we know that it is 4,788 mm (188.5-inches) long, 1,940 mm (76.3-inches) wide, 1,683 mm (66.2-inches) tall, and complete with a 2,915 mm (114-inch) wheelbase. These proportions combine to create a very nice-looking SUV with an aggressively sloped roofline, a sharp front-end, striking sides with angular body lines and creases, and a rear with a continuous light strip that brings to mind Porsche’s latest SUVs.
It is reported that ArcFox Alpha-T comes outfitted with Level 2 autonomous driving and is equipped with the necessary 5G-capable systems that it will need to eventually meet Level 3 self-driving down the road.
Prices for the Alpha-T start at 280,000 yuan ($39,564) in China and the first customer deliveries are tipped to start in August.
