Fox body Mustangs are experiencing a resurgence and one has been selected for the basis of Ken Block’s Hoonifox concept.

According to Block, the idea for the model came about as a natural extension of the Hoonicorn which was introduced in 2014 and based on a 1965 Ford Mustang. As Block explained, he loves that car so he thought about recreating it with various different types of Mustangs.

To help bring the model closer to fruition, Block tapped graphic artist Ash Thorp who has worked on numerous movies and is credited with creating the new Batmobile which will be featured in The Batman which is scheduled for release in October of 2021.

Getting back to the car, it’s undeniably aggressive as it has a massive air intake and rows of vents above the front fenders. The concept also a front splitter, extended fenders and a side exiting dual exhaust system. Other highlights include rear window louvers, a massive diffuser and a sizable rear spoiler.

While the clip focuses on the design of the Hoonifox, the car could presumably use the same powertrain as the Hoonicorn V2. That could mean a twin-turbo 6.7-liter V8 sending 1,400 hp (1,043 kW / 1,419 PS) to all four wheels.

Block suggested the car might not stay a concept for very long as he noted this “might be the very next ‘Hoonicorn’ project!” He also envisions a Miami Vice-inspired Gymkhana and that would certainly be interesting.
