The Sultan of Brunei’s car collection is the stuff of legends and if you’re a fan of supercars, you’ll no doubt be familiar with the grainy images that surfaced from within his car collection many years ago.

One could spend months discussing each and every car owned by the Sultan but one of his most recognizable rides was a Gun Metal Grey Ferrari F40 with red accents that ended up being exported to the UK roughly a decade ago. Intrigued by this car, designer Jpog has imagined what it would have looked like if modified to rival the McLaren F1’s top speed record and pictured in the Sultan’s garage back in 1994.

The non-existent but still very cool Ferrari F40 depicted is dubbed the ‘Coda Lunga’ and been designed as a one-off prototype that could have hit 249 mph (400 km/h), claiming the title of the world’s fastest production car. Jpog used the Sultan’s Gun Metal Grey F40 as the basis of this high-speed variation.

At the front, it’s all fairly typical F40 but the car has been imagined riding on a set of aftermarket BBS wheels to help it slice through the air. The majority of the custom touches have been made to the rear that’s now longer than a normal F40 while also ditching the supercar’s famed rear wing in favor of a smaller carbon wing that wouldn’t generate as much drag. The car also has more modern LED taillights and a pronounced rear diffuser.

It is understood that the Sultan of Brunei at one stage owned 11 Ferrari F40s. His Gun Metal Grey car was customized to his wishes and actually sports the leather interior from a Ferrari Testarossa thanks to custom work done by Pininfarina.
