Like its Challenger sibling, the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody is such a whiner – and we absolutely adore it for that. Well, that and the fact it has heaps and heaps of power.

It’s going to get even more powerful in the hands of Hennessey, but for now, it remains stock, and it took on another stock American sports car: the new-gen Chevrolet Corvette C8.

With 707 HP and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) produced by its 6.2-liter supercharged V8, the Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody sure has the output and torque numbers on its side. By comparison, the ‘Vette in its current configuration makes do with 495 HP and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) from GM’s 6.2-liter LT2 V8.

Nevertheless, despite being less powerful, it’s faster, much faster on paper. The 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) is dispatched in under 3 seconds and it’s capable of sprinting up to 194 mph (312 km/h). Meanwhile, the four-door sedan does the 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and will run out of breath at 196 mph (315 km/h).

Now, as we mentioned above, the Texas tuner will soon work it’s magic on the Charger, and will do the same to the C8, but until that happens, the two were placed against each other to see which one is quicker in a straight-line acceleration.

To make a more valid point, they conducted two drag races, from a standing and a 40 mph (64 km/h) rolling start. Besides the result, the two-and-a-half-minute long video is a sound-festooned display of power, so make sure you pump up the volume before hitting the play button.
