We’ve seen the Germans do it, and we’ve seen Top Gear do it, and now we have an independent drag race too. So once and for all, which is quicker, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S or the Tesla Model S Performance with Cheetah Stance launch mode?

The good folks at DragTimes even went as far as to race the two EVs multiple times, from a standstill and from a roll, in turn covering all of their bases.

From the get-go, Porsche meant for the flagship Taycan variant to be more than a match for the Tesla Model S Performance, even though the German brand doesn’t consider Tesla to be a direct rival, according to Porsche R&D boss Michael Steiner.

Still, brand prestige and customer base aside, the Model S Performance and Taycan Turbo S are clearly very evenly matched, and the fight is officially on for acceleration supremacy in the four-door premium EV segment.

The previous two times we saw these models duke it out, it was the Taycan that came out on top, and some of that is evident in this video as well. In fact, it appears that the Porsche is capable of pulling away at higher speeds, while the Tesla might have a slight advantage during rolling races.

Off the line, it comes down to the driver’s reaction time, but the Porsche did manage to get ahead and stay ahead during the first race, despite the Tesla driver reacting just as well to the start.

In the end, you get pretty much the same level of performance with either of the two, especially as you accelerate to 60 mph and beyond. Aren’t we just nitpicking at this point?
