Canadian market pricing for the Polestar 2 EV has been set at $69,900 CAD (equal to around US$50,000 at today’s exchange rates). Meanwhile, deliveries to reservation holders are scheduled to begin in late summer 2020.

For those of you counting, that’s just shy of a (very significant) US$10,000 difference over the U.S. market model that will start from US$59,900. Interestingly, that makes the Polestar 2 CA$8,090 (~US$5,800) cheaper than the range-topping Tesla Model 3 Performance (CA$77,900) in Canada, whereas in the United States, the Swedish EV is CA$4,100 (US$2,910) more expensive than the equivalent Tesla.

Currently, the Swedish carmaker is targeting a lease price of $899 CAD/month, to go with 0.9% APR financing. Polestar believes this offer to be “extremely competitive” in terms of both payments and MSRP.

Additionally, optional extras on the Polestar 2 will cost you as follows: $6,000 CAD ($4,284) for the Performance Pack, $5,000 CAD ($3,570) for the nappa leather interior, $1,200 CAD ($856) for the 20-inch alloy wheels and another $1,200 CAD ($856) if you want a metallic paint color.

“We are proud to offer a premium electric vehicle at such a competitive price – the combination of which we feel has a great opportunity in the Canadian marketplace,” said Hugues Bissonette, head of Polestar Canada. “Based on the extremely positive reaction from the market, we expect strong sales throughout Canada.”

You can purchase your Polestar 2 right now by accessing the brand’s website. Moving forward, the carmaker will also open additional Polestar Spaces, with a strategically placed network in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

“These physical retail showrooms will host non-commissioned Polestar Specialists to assist customers with product information and test drives.”

Unveiled a little over a year ago, the Polestar 2 boasts a fully electric drivetrain, sending 408 HP and 487 lb-ft (660 Nm) of torque to all four corners. It’s also the first car in the world to utilize an infotainment system powered by Android, with Google Assistant, Google Maps and the Google Play Store built in.
