The latest-generation Bentley Continental GT not only looks much better than its predecessor but, as Autogefühl recently discovered in its latest review, it is also drastically improved.

While the range continues to be topped out by W12-powered models, Bentley unveiled V8 models of the Continental GT and GT Convertible early last year, and those are the two models which Autogefühl put to the test in its full-length review.

The headline of the two models is the engine, a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 542 hp and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. This new V8 from Bentley sees the twin-scroll turbochargers placed inside the ‘V’ of the engine and allows the Continental GT Coupe to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, while the Convertible can reach the same mark in 4.0 seconds.

The hardtop which Autogefühl tested was painted in a shade of maroon while the Convertible featured a bright yellow paint scheme. This model was also equipped with 22-inch gloss black wheels and various other black accents across the exterior, such as trimmings around the headlights and taillights. Mind you, those in the market for the new Continental have no less than eight other wheel designs to choose from.

Inside, the Bentley looks like a masterclass. There is a 10-speaker audio system as standard, a digital instrument panel and the available Bentley Rotating Display that incorporates a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Interestingly, the reviewer isn’t a big fan of the seats, saying it feels like he is sitting on top of them rather than in them. So, what are other gripes and, more importantly, the verdict on the V8-powered Continental GT? Scroll down and find out.
