The first images of the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban in Z71 guise have hit the web, some six months after the lesser trim levels of the full-size SUV were unveiled in December.
At the time, Chevrolet premiered the latest-generation Suburban alongside the latest Tahoe and also unveiled the latter in Z71 form; curiously, it didn’t do the same with the Suburban. Nevertheless, these images shared on the New Tahoe Yukon forum show the jacked-up Suburban Z71 in all its aggressive glory. The images come from the vehicle’s online configurator.
Much like the Chevy Tahoe Z71, the new Suburban Z71 comes as standard with the automaker’s 5.3-liter L84 V8 engine rated at 355 hp and 383 lb-ft (520 Nm) of torque.

However, customers can opt for a more powerful 6.2-liter V8 churning out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) of torque. Both engines are coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case as standard.
2021 Suburban Z71 models also come with Hill Descent Control which is not available on the lesser LT model. Visually, the Z71 stands out on a number of fronts from lesser variants, most notably with the presence of a custom blacked-out grille, front and rear tow hooks painted red, and new wheels equipped with BF Goodrich all-terrain tires.
The Chevrolet Suburban Z71 is available from $63,195, but when equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 and Z71 Signature Package it jumps up closer to $70,000. By comparison, the entry-level Suburban starts at $52,995, including a $1,295 destination charge.
