The driver of a newly-delivered 2020 Chevrolet Corvette has caught the moment a motorcycle side-swiped his sports car while out for a drive.

Corvette owner John Gibson recently took to the C8 Corvette Owners group on Facebook and provided a detailed description of this incident.

According to Gibson, he was driving his Corvette and came over a small crest in the road when two motorcyclists heading in the opposite direction briefly crossed into his lane. One of the foot pegs of the rider’s hit the side air intake of the C8, leaving it with some damage. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The Corvette owner turned around and found that the two motorcyclists had left the scene, but he quickly tracked them down to their house nearby. He then called the police and the bikers reportedly told the officer that it was the Corvette that was over the center line. Knowing that wasn’t the case, the C8 driver headed back to the scene of the impact with the police to show it was the motorcyclists that were the ones at fault.

Gibson says that on the way back to the scene, he remembered that he had the car’s automatic Performance Data Recorder enabled, meaning it had captured footage of the entire incident. Thus, he showed the video to the police, who agreed that it was indeed the motorcyclists that had crossed the center line, meaning the insurance of the first biker should have to pay for the damages.
