A mysterious Lexus RC F prototype has been spied undergoing testing on the Nürburgring.
Caught during a wet run, the car is heavily camouflaged but there’s no hiding the fact that this particular model has been equipped with a larger rear spoiler. There doesn’t appear to be any other major changes but it’s hard to know for certain what’s underneath the swirly disguise.
Initial speculation suggests this could be could be an early prototype for a new sporting variant but it remains unclear if the rumored model would come with styling tweaks or some more substantial upgrades.
The prototype could also be a facelifted variant as the RC was introduced nearly four years ago at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Regardless of what Lexus is planning, the current RC F starts at $64,165 and features a 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops 467 hp (348 kW) and 389 lb-ft (526 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels though a limited-slip or optional torque vectoring rear differential. This setup allows the coupe to run from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).
