Gordon Murray’s forthcoming T.50 supercar, coined as a spiritual successor to the iconic McLaren F1, will eschew the modern trend of hybridization and advanced dual-clutch transmissions and instead feature a high-revving V12 engine and a six-speed manual transmission.
As this new video from the company reveals, the six-speed gearbox is being sourced from Xtrac and should give owners of the T.50 the opportunity to get the most out of their cars, shifting through the gears on their own and enjoying all the delight that comes along with a manual gearbox.

It is not just the stick shift that promises to make the T.50 feel a bit more like a thoroughbred supercar out of the late 1990s than one from 2020. Located behind the cabin will be a 3.9-liter V12 that has been developed by Cosworth and will rev through to an extraordinary 12,100 rpm. It is expected to deliver 650 hp and 331 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque although Murray says that thanks to ram induction, it will in fact have closer to 700 horses.
The T.50 will also be extraordinarily light with Gordon Murray targeting a figure of just 2,160 lbs (980 kg). Then we come to the pièce de résistance; aerodynamics.
Murray will use his Formula 1 expertise to design a 400 mm electric fan at the back of the T.50 that will suck air from under the car to drastically increase downforce. There will be six different aerodynamic settings available, including ‘High Downforce’ and ‘Streamline’, aimed at reducing drag.
Production of the T.50 will be capped at just 125 units worldwide, 25 of which will be track-only variants.
