Most automakers have expanded their business beyond the car industry and are now making either electric scooters, bicycles, furniture or clothes.
Cupra, on the other hand, saw an opportunity in the lamp-making business, so they have teamed up with Marset, a lighting company based in Barcelona, Spain, to bring their first creation to life.

Named the ‘Chispa by Marset for Cupra’, it is a portable, rechargeable and cordless lamp, whose design was inspired by a garage lamp. It features a grid that protects the light source, and when lit, the black tones around it adopt a copper hue, similar to the automaker’s logo. The new lamp features an accessory that allows it to be hung and is IP44-certified, which means that it can withstand water splashes from any angle.
“Our collaboration [with Marset] goes beyond a product, since their creations are part of the illumination of the Cupra Garage and are exhibited in our dealership network, as well as at fairs and motor shows”, said Wayne Griffiths, Cupra CEO. “We will continue to expand our design collections in the coming months with new partners.”
The new ‘Chispa by Marset for Cupra’ will be displayed in Cupra’s global distribution network, but to purchase it, one will have to visit Marset’s retail outlets. Neither of the two companies has said anything about the price, but we expect they’ll announce it in the coming months, probably right before the lamp goes on sale in October.
